F.R.E.E. “Friends of Refugees of Eastern Europe, is dedicated to making the beauty of our Jewish principles and heritage accessible to all Jews, caring and assisting in bringing the light of Jewish tradition into one’s life. F.R.E.E. welcomes and accepts all Jews regardless of background or affiliation.
F.R.E.E. was established in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney in 1986, to meet needs of Eastern European migrant community in NSW. Today F.R.E.E membership or affiliation accounts for over 6000 families living primarily in Sydney East & Eastern Suburbs areas.

Friends of Refugees of Eastern Europe Sydney is an affiliate of a group of international organizations founded in 1969 by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson. FREE's mandate is to restore the Jewish identity and Jewish education diminished through over seventy years of communist oppression, by assisting Jewish immigrants from the Former The Soviet Union in all moral, spiritual, religious, educational and financial/material areas of their new lives in the FREE world.
Ever since FREE has successfully aided tens of thousands of Jews. Serving as the first such organization, FREE is Australia’s largest Jewish organization serving Russian Jewish immigrants
with their spiritual and material needs.
Friends of Refugees of Eastern Europe Limited was formally incorporated in 1995 in NSW and operates as a charitable organization (a public benevolent institution) in its own privately-funded buildings at 25 & 27 O’Brien Street Bondi NSW.
FRIENDS OF REFUGEES OF EASTERN EUROPE is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) from 01 Jul 2000. It is covered by Item 1 of the table in section 30-15 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 .
